Bolton Foundation wraps a successful year of fundraising for nonprofits with ‘Granting Holiday Wishes’

PASADENA, California – A year of successful fundraising came to a festive close for the Bolton Foundation during its third annual “Granting Holiday Wishes,” where $50,000 in grants were awarded to five select nonprofit organizations for making a positive impact within the communities they serve.

More than 200 guests were in attendance during the holiday-themed event hosted by the philanthropic arm of Bolton & Company at A Noise Within Theater in Pasadena. This included children, teenagers and young adults served by the nonprofits who were invited to a luncheon, matinee performance of Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol” and a toy giveaway that concluded the event.

This year, The Bolton Foundation recognized The Boys & Girls Club of Pasadena, St. Anne’s, Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, The Place of South Pasadena and Pasadena Police Activities League for the services and support they provide. Each nonprofit was presented with a $10,000 grant check during the event.

Foundation Chairman and Bolton Chief Operating Officer Mike Morey points to the efforts of these organizations as the fuel that powers the Bolton Foundation’s underlying mission.

“The nonprofits we recognize exemplify what it means to make a lasting difference in the lives of many,” said Morey. “They provide the crucial services and support that a lot of people depend on, and they’re shaping our communities for the better in the process. By supporting their efforts, we hope they can further their reach and impact—which, in turn, enables us to do the same.”

The Bolton Foundation raised more than $100,000 for nonprofit organizations this year. Contributions were provided through the year-round fundraising efforts of the Bolton Foundation and its partners, including “The Throw Down,” a cornhole bean bag toss tournament held at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena.

Beyond the grants awarded during Granting Holiday Wishes, The Bolton Foundation awarded an additional $30,000 in grants to nine nonprofit organizations earlier in the year:

  • Aviva Family and Children’s Services
  • Center for Nonprofit Management
  • Child Guidance Center
  • Club 21
  • Convalescent Aid Society
  • Housing Trust Silicon Valley
  • Journey House
  • K9 Youth Alliance
  • Reading Partners

Grant recipient organizations were chosen based on their close alignment with The Bolton Foundation’s grant funding priority areas of education, youth services, community development and multiculturalism. Those chosen must be filed 501c(3) with valid tax ID, located within California and use the grant as either seed money for startup programs or funding for existing programs.
