Believe it or not, insurance brokers are people too. And like most people, we all have our own hobbies and passions—and in some cases, it’s the reason we do what we do professionally.
This is the story of my personal journey toward physical fitness and the influence it has on the way I live, grow and do business with my clients today.
It Started with a Goal
In the summer of 2009, I started to really get into the idea of staying healthy and super fit. If I’m totally honest, some of my greatest motivation came from a girl I now happily call my wife.
As I got more involved with this idea of getting into really good shape, I got so into it that I started to think about competing in men’s physique competitions.
Around this time, I was fortunate enough to work at the flagship store of a nationwide supplement retail chain. This experience was invaluable as I was able to quickly build my knowledge of supplements, the ingredients that were being used and their purpose within each product.
The role also provided me with thorough education on nutrition programs and reinforced how a proper diet along with proper supplementation can accelerate the fitness results I was looking for.
As I continued to work out, I was dedicated. I was consistent. And after a lot of hard work—and a few blisters—I finally saw the results I was looking for, which allowed me to compete in my first physique competition.
A Formula for Success
Years of training along with proper nutrition and supplementation further instilled in me the concept of “dedication plus consistency will get you results.” D + C = R—this is the formula for success in my personal and professional life.

This concept quickly turned into the way I approach both life and doing business.
Fast forward to where I am today, as an insurance broker serving all walks of the supplement industry, and you will still find me drinking my pre-workout shakes, hitting the gym before starting my day and applying the work ethic of my sports nutrition training toward my career development within the insurance industry.
One of the greatest perks is that my lifestyle aligns with nearly all of the 300-plus clients we have within the supplement and CBD industries that Bolton supports.
Every day I talk to leaders of established and growing businesses in various arms of the supplements industry to learn about their products, intended use and how I can help them achieve their own organizational goals.
The best part of my job? I get to help companies establish an insurance policy curated to protect their business, products and people. Having clients within this industry has some perks too—I get to try out my client’s latest and greatest products for my own use and education, including pre-workouts, multi-vitamins, proteins, branched-chain amino acids and much more.
At the end of the day, I like seeing results. Being able to watch my clients grow within these industries truly makes me feel like I’ve done my job.
